Troop Support to help 944th Engineer Battalion of Army Reservists in partnership with USO of Colorado
Volunteers needed for 1) buying supplies, 2) packing supplies, and 3) delivering supplies in Denver on Saturday December 10th.

Not only do we have these great community (short term!) volunteer opportunities we also have not one but two social events planned this week! We had a great Happy Hour at Bistro North in Dillon on Thursday afternoon. On this Sunday, we are scheduled for club bowling at Elevation Bowl in Dillon, 6 PM sharp. Bring family and friends! Thank you to our wonderful Social Committee led by Tanecia Spagnolia and Ann Clement for keeping us smiling and having fun while getting to know our fellow club members.
I received an exciting update from District 5450 on our latest progress towards utilizing the RI-District $25,000 grants to provide war relief to Ukraine. Bob Kemp, a former District Governor and current District 5450 International Service Chair, has been leading an aggressive campaign for District clubs to utilize as many of the RI $25,000 grants as possible specially dedicated for Ukraine aid.
As background, The Rotary Foundation earmarked $15,000,000 earlier this year specifically for Districts worldwide to create projects that will benefit Ukraine war relief efforts. There is less than $2,000,000 remaining in this special worldwide aid fund and all funds need to be granted before year end. Bob jumped in and set up a District task force to identify specific war relief programs that could be initiated and completed by end of December. Summit Rotary club is part of that task force because of our highly successful project in April with District 1912 (Slovenia) where our club, with the help of a DDF grant, and participation from four other mountain Rotary clubs in Area 9, provided over $30,000 in aid to Ukraine in the form of medical supplies.
Our District has successfully completed its first $25,000 RI grant project in 47 days (!) consisting of providing funding for 1000 thermal waterproof blankets to be used in bomb shelters in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv. The blankets are manufactured within Kharkiv providing additional support by employing local civilians. The Evergreen Rotary club initiated this project and Summit Rotary provided additional funding through our International Services committee.
The District has successful obtained another $25,000 RI grant this week for a second project that will be initiated by the Cherry Creek Rotary club. Thermal clothing will be purchased through an intermediary UK Rotary club and be delivered to our District's partner club in Lviv, Ukraine. The hope is to have this project completed within 44 days which would allow our club to just squeak in by the 12/31 RI grant deadline to apply for a third $25,000 RI grant. Our District is on a roll!
It has been truly exciting to see and be a part of Rotarians in Action around the world! Summit Rotary club has been involved in the District's effort to provide aid to Ukraine since early spring, right after the initial Russian invasion. All of YOU have provided the critical support necessary to fund our Ukraine projects by your contributions to our Charitable Foundation and The Rotary Foundation. And, YOUR fundraising efforts on behalf of our club (think Ice Melt and Car Raffle) go directly to these and other club projects. Thank you Summit Rotarians for your generosity and continued support of the Ukrainian people!

Email spam filters often include the ability to "whitelist" certain sender IP addresses, email addresses or domain names to protect their email from being rejected or sent to a junk mail folder.
From Wickipedia: A whitelist is (1) a list of email addresses that a mail server or email client program is configured to accept as valid, incoming mail. Also called a "safe senders list," only messages from addresses on the list are allowed, and all the rest are discarded. (2) A list of valid domain names that a mail server is configured to accept. All mail from users with that domain are allowed.
Gmail:
According to internet: Gmail offers an option to add specific addresses or domains as "safe" so they aren't automatically marked as spam, known as a "Whitelist." Your Whitelists must be managed and set by you. If you want to accept all email sent from a specific address, follow these instructions:
Log in to your Gmail
Click the gear icon in the top-right, and select Settings.
Click the Filters and Blocked Addresses tab.
Click Create at New Filter.

The Membership Committee needs new Rotary members (especially people who have joined Rotary in the last 2 - 3 years) to join the Committee to help us meet our challenges in attracting and retaining new members. The Committee meets as needed to discuss approaches in how we can add, and involve, new members. The Summit Rotary Club is now below 100 members, and we need to recruit new folks to keep our club vibrant and involved in the community!
A Prospective Member should attend 3 zoom meetings before turning in his/her application, sponsor form, a short bio and $50 application fee to the Membership Chairman, Mike Connolly, or to any one on the Membership Committee. The application will be presented to the Membership Committee for approval. Once approved, the applicant's bio will be posted in our bulletin for 3 weeks. If there are no questions about the Prospective Member, the induction will be scheduled. Two new categories of Membership have recently been approved – a Family Membership and a Corporate Membership. Please contact an individual on the Membership Committee for details on these new types of Membership.
