Our club's Ice Melt device remains precariously perched on its side on the Lake Dillon ice as I write this message on Wednesday. Several of us thought Tuesday was THE day when the device must have gone under as it was not visible to those of us that stopped to look without binoculars. Rob Phipp's new electronic temperature and tracking device is still working well. Please join Bee Jeanson as a device observer if you can.....we need folks to monitor twice a day, 7 AM and 7 PM. We should have a winner any day now. Stay tuned for an email blast when the device goes into the water. Good luck to those of you who chose late dates on your tickets!
Our next annual club fundraiser, Car Raffle, is gearing up in the background as we wind down Ice Melt. Jim Brook, Steve Cornwell, and Steph Katz are preparing for this huge undertaking. Jim has kindly stepped up to fill the Club Raffle Manager role recently vacated by Lynne Baer. This involves communicating directly with the Secretary of State's office so that our club stays within the strict rules for CO state raffles. Jim is also currently working through the online raffle manager certification process. Thank you Jim and also to Lynne for covering this important club role now and in the past.
Jim and Steve have put out their annual request for club members who would be available to help with the Car Raffle fundraiser in the background. For all of you Summit Rotarians who do not like selling car raffle tickets during the summer, this is meant for YOU! There are important behind-the-scenes jobs that do not require selling. These jobs can are time flexible and can be tailored to your availability and interests. Contact Jim Brook or Steve Cornwall for more information about these non-selling volunteer Car Raffle positions.
Our club is now in our 2nd year of the two-year Adopt a Rec Path program where we are responsible for cleaning the walking/biking recreation path along the Dillon Dam Rd between the two guard houses. Please join us TODAY at noon at the west guard house parking lot to do our first clean-up sweep. Count on about 1.5 hours of time and some great conversation with fellow club members. Come prepared for the weather! We will be conducting this clean-up biweekly through October when our term ends with Summit County. A great walk with great scenery and usually very little trash to pick up. Consider joining for a clean-up walk or two.
Ann Clement and David Matthew have taken up their spring residence in Lubji_____. Slovenia. Ann reports that spring time in this beautiful city along a river canal is beautiful. Last week they drove into Italy for a Rotary International event

Born and raised in Cleveland Ohio; 12 years of parochial school; very ethnic upbringing (Hungarian and Slovak). Graduated in 1969 from the USAF Academy (BS in Computer Science); followed with Pilot Training, Williams AFB, M (T-47, T-37, T-38). Flew two tours (1970 and 1977) in the Lockheed C-141 {Norton AFB, CA and Travis AFB, CA).

I got my MS in Computer Science from Colorado University Boulder (1976); had multiple AF tours in software and hardware management, alternating with flying duties. Spent three years in West Germany in a German village (Birkenfeld) working on a Command and Control Tactical Air Software System on a German Kaserne (wife and I both speak German). AF retired after 21 years in L990 as a Lt Col. Thereafter for almost 20 years worked as a software project manager and a systems program director in the desert outside of Las Vegas for EG&G Special Projects that later became lT3 LLC. Missions supported Top Secret Air Force system flight testing. Retired in 2010. Thereafter worked at Cascata Golf Course in Boulder City, owned by Caesar's Palace, parking cars, carry and cleaning golf clubs (and playing golf for free). Now fully and gratefully retired.

According to internet: Gmail offers an option to add specific addresses or domains as "safe" so they aren't automatically marked as spam, known as a "Whitelist." Your Whitelists must be managed and set by you. If you want to accept all email sent from a specific address, follow these instructions:
Log in to your Gmail
Click the gear icon in the top-right, and select Settings.
Click the Filters and Blocked Addresses tab.
Click Create at New Filter.

The Membership Committee needs new Rotary members (especially people who have joined Rotary in the last 2 - 3 years) to join the Committee to help us meet our challenges in attracting and retaining new members. The Committee meets as needed to discuss approaches in how we can add, and involve, new members. We need to recruit new folks to keep our club vibrant and involved in the community!
A Prospective Member should attend 3 meetings before turning in his/her application, sponsor form, a short bio and $50 application fee to the Membership Chairman, David Guignard, or to any one on the Membership Committee. The application will be presented to the Membership Committee for approval. Once approved, the applicant's bio will be posted in our bulletin for 3 weeks. If there are no questions about the Prospective Member, the induction will be scheduled. Two categories of Membership are available – a Family Membership and a Corporate Membership. Please contact an individual on the Membership Committee for details on these new types of Membership.
