Writing this message in celebration of Christmas—for those who celebrate—I also found myself thinking about those who don’t, or can’t celebrate this season. While I’m cozy in my warm home, sipping delicious coffee and feeling grateful for family, friends, and holiday joy, I caught myself worrying about something as small as not having enough snow to ski. That little moment stopped me in my tracks and reminded me how easy it is to forget how fortunate I am.
It’s okay to celebrate the light of this season while also holding space for those walking through darker days. So many millions don’t have the luxury of celebration when they’re worried about keeping their families fed and warm - and alive. I’m sending courage, prayers, good energy, and kindness—whatever name we give it—out into the universe, trusting it will land where it’s needed most.
And because we’re Rotarians, we don’t just feel compassion—we act on it. We show up. We care. We serve. And when we’re not physically able to serve, we continue to send loving-kindness in our own ways, through whatever connects us to hope, faith, or something greater.
I may not have much cosmic influence, but I do believe kindness travels—and we help carry it in so many ways. Let’s celebrate the abundance we have while surrounding those who struggle with empathy, hope, and compassion. May we share our light with others.

I would venture to say, we are one of the ONLY clubs (out of 34,000+/-) to be featured TWICE in the same Rotary Year in that publication! • Grew up in Denver -- consistently active in many sports and outdoor activities • Parents taught and encouraged me in several outdoor activities, most notably tennis, hiking, camping and backpacking in the mountains, alpine and backcountry skiing, bicycling, running • B.Sc. degree in geology from Colorado College • M.Sc. degree in geology from Colorado School of Mines (emphasis on exploration geochemistry) • Worked as a professional geologist for several companies including Chevron Resources, US Geologic Survey, FMC, Westmont Mining, Tetra Tech, Camp Dresser & McGee, and Amplified Geochemical Imaging • Work included research, field work, technical geology and exploration geochemistry, computer mapping (GIS) and database management, technical writing, project management, team management, personnel hiring, proposal writing, developing cost estimates, tracking budget and project progress • Currently volunteering at Copper Mountain as Mountain Safety Patrol (7 years) • Currently volunteering at Willow Springs HOA with trail maintenance (16 years) • Copper Mountain homeowner since 2011 (condo)
