Bridging Centuries, Connecting Worlds

 🌍✨

As I write this, I am sitting in Rhodes, Greece, gazing out at an ancient castle and fortress that began its story nearly 4,000 years ago. The history here is breathtaking — a land of mythical gods and goddesses, timeless legends, and resilient people whose stories continue to shape our own.

Being surrounded by such deep history reminds me just how young our own country is by comparison. And yet, standing among these enduring stones gives me something precious: hope. Hope that, despite today’s tensions and divisions, resilience runs deep in humanity — and we, too, can overcome and thrive, just as countless civilizations before us have done.

And, of course, I am proudly wearing my Rotary pin. In just a few days, I’ve met four fellow Rotarians — two from the U.S., one from Australia, and one from Italy. It’s a powerful reminder that Rotary is everywhere — a global family united by service, compassion, and the belief that together we can make lasting change.

Standing here, thousands of miles from home and thousands of years deep in history, I’m struck by the thought that Rotary connects us across time and place. Whether in Summit County, Rhodes, or anywhere in between, we are part of something bigger than ourselves.

Wherever we go, we bring our shared values. Wherever we serve, we leave an impact. And wherever we meet another Rotarian, we are reminded that our world — vast, complex, and ancient as it is — can feel very, very small when hearts are aligned in purpose.
