Rotary Club Named Best Club in District 5450; Joan Tilden Honored as Rotarian of the Year
The Rotary Club of Summit County has been recognized as the top Rotary club in District 5450, receiving the prestigious Paul Harris Award for Outstanding Club. The award was presented during the Rotary District Conference, recognizing the club's exceptional service, leadership, innovation, and impact throughout the past year.
District 5450 encompasses approximately 60 Rotary clubs and more than 2,800 Rotarians across Colorado. The Paul Harris Award is the district's highest recognition for overall club excellence.
Adding to the celebration, Summit County Rotarian Joan Tilden was named Rotarian of the Year, one of the district's highest individual honors. Selected from more than 2,800 Rotarians, the award recognizes Joan's outstanding leadership, dedication to service, and significant contributions to Rotary throughout the district.
"This is an extraordinary honor for our club," said Rotary Club President Judi LaPoint. "Receiving the district's highest club recognition while one of our own is named Rotarian of the Year reflects what can happen when people come together with a shared commitment to serving others."
During the past year, the Rotary Club of Summit County celebrated serving its 200,000th Community Dinner, expanded literacy initiatives through WRITE THE ROCKIES, strengthened vocational education partnerships, supported scholarships and local nonprofits, advanced environmental stewardship through its plastics recycling program, and continued international humanitarian projects.
The club also gained unprecedented public recognition, earning two separate features in Rotary Magazine—an honor achieved by very few Rotary clubs—as well as coverage on Denver television stations, local radio, and regional newspapers.
"These awards belong to every member of our club," LaPoint said. "They recognize thousands of volunteer hours, countless acts of generosity, and a shared belief that together we can accomplish extraordinary things for our community."
Founded in 1974, the Rotary Club of Summit County has served the community for more than 50 years through projects supporting hunger relief, literacy, education, youth, environmental sustainability, international service, and community partnerships.
