Thank you to all who attended the Transition Dinner this past Monday. Those who were present heard inspiring remarks from Judi as she presented awards to club members who made significant contributions during the last year. We ere entertained by a local singer/guitar player and enjoyed the delicious spread put on by Timberline Craft Kitchen and Cocktails; I am deeply indebted to Tanecia Spagnolia for planning the whole event. Lastly, we all enjoyed (in some sense of the word) the performance of our special guest, who turned out not to be Josh Allen but our own beloved David Groth. His rap performance will not soon be forgotten.
As I said at the dinner, I consider taking over the presidency of the club to be an honor, a privilege and a serious responsibility. I am truly humbled that I have been selected to take on this important role.
As I assume this position, I recognize that I have huge shoes to try to fill. Judi was an incredible president. Between her amazing talents and tireless effort, she set a standard that will be difficult to meet. I will do my utmost to try to measure up, but please be kind if you should find me falling short of yhe standard Judi set.
I am going to explain my perspective on the duties of the president at the meeting to be held on July 7. At that time I will speak about the concept of servant leadership and how I intend to approach the task of leading the club. I learned about this method of leadership from the Rotary RISE training that I took a while back and for which I have served as a facilitator during a couple subsequent sessions of the training.
I believe that in order for the servant leadership model to work it is important to have a strong base of support. I believe we have that in our club due to the members who have agreed to serve as officers and directors for the coming year. I am grateful to each of them for stepping up to fulfill their important roles. I am equally grateful for each of the team chairs who have agreed to oversee the important work that each of the teams performs.
The work of our club is an important service to Summit County and the other areas we serve with our international projects. As we move forward during the coming year, my goal is to see that the work we are doing continues, that we improve in areas where that is necessary, and that we pick up new projects where appropriate to meet the interests of the community and of all club members.
I think you all for having given me the opportunity to serve as president during this year. You have my pledge that I will do all I can to meet the important responsibilities of the position.
Smart Bellies mission is to ensure kids have consistent access to nutritious food so they can thrive at home and in school. We will pack food for students who may not have access to food over the weekend.
Our Disaster Cycle Services team is responding to rapidly evolving operations across Southern Colorado, and we need your help. We are urgently seeking volunteers who are willing to become Shelter Service Associates to support shelters serving communities in Lake, Pueblo, Custer and Fremont counties. The need is immediate, and every additional volunteer helps us provide safe shelter and compassionate care to those impacted.
If you are already shelter trained, and willing to respond and fill a shift please go to Volunteer Connection, Select the “My Shifts” Tab, Go to “Disaster Relief Operation-Volunteer Shifts.” At the top of the screen, select “List” to see all open shifts. Register for any shifts you can take.

I recently relocated to Frisco from Boulder and feel very lucky to be part of this great community in the mountains. Working from home full time, I now find myself with more flexibility in my schedule than ever before, and also eager to meet and work with people. I would like to use my extra time meaningfully by giving back to the community that I’m now part of. Rotary’s focus on hands-on, impactful service feels like exactly the kind of contribution that I’ve been looking for — a way to connect with fellow community members while doing work that genuinely makes a difference.
In the near term, I’m eager to get involved with existing club projects and learn where I can be most useful. Looking further ahead, I hope to contribute more directly in areas where I have professional experience — as a physician, I’d love to support or help develop health-focused initiatives, and as a Spanish (and French) speaker, I see real potential to contribute to education and literacy efforts. Long term, I’m curious to explore opportunities with Rotary International as I am passionate about traveling and discovering new cultures.
